Background
Integrating the attention-based view of the firm with social interaction reasoning in top management teams, our study proposes a theoretical model of attentional alignment. We test our model in the context of CEO-CFO attentional alignment and strategic change.
Approach
We analyze a longitudinal sample for the time period 2010 to 2018 from the S&P 500. Based on over 80 million spoken words of CEOs and CFOs that we extract from quarterly earnings calls transcripts, we analyze 1,692 firm-year observations of attentional alignment from 308 firms for the relationship with strategic change.
